Cellmania Announces WAPPYAward™ Nominees

Award Recognizes World's Best Mobile Internet Applications

March 15, 2001, Mountain View, Calif. -- Cellmania, the foremost third-party authority on content and applications in the wireless industry, today announced its nominees for the third international award to recognize the best of the mobile Internet. The Cellmania WAPPYAwards 2001, sponsored by Hewlett Packard and AT&T Wireless, honor the most innovative sites designed specifically for mobile users. The following companies have been nominated in nine categories from 97 countries around the world:

  • Games: Cosmic Infinity (Canada), Jamdat, Ludiwap (France)
  • Group Productivity: Aspiro, vVault, Covatron
  • Youth Interest: Etnoka (French), PFFT!, Upoc

The Cellmania WAPPYAward nominees were selected by a group of seven judges with a unique understanding of the wireless industry. More than 11,000 sites were considered before selecting the top 27 finalists. Judges evaluated nominees based on several criteria, including accessibility, navigability, relevance of content or product offerings and overall design.

This year's judges were: David Andrews, Senior Director of Marketing at Broadvision; Elisa Batista, Reporter for Wired News; John Robb, Director of Product Management for mSpect; Sven-Goran Elveborg, Director of Strategic Development for Jalda; Clark Bohmont, VP of Business Development for Cellmania; Ross Bridges, Business Development Manager for Hewlett Packard Mobile Services and Torbjorn Kanestrom, VP of Business Development for FAST.

The winners in each category as well as the award for "Best of Show" will be announced on March 21st during an invitation-only cocktail reception at Club C2K during the CTIA Wireless 2001 Show at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.
